CHESTER - Steve Helms, 61, of 859 Beachwood Dr., entered eternity on Sat., Jan. 8, 2011.
He was the son of the late Robert W. and Olene Ferguson Helms. Mr. Helms was retired from S & H Electric and was a member of Chester First Church of The Nazarene.
He is survived by his wife, Judy James Helms of the home; two sons, SSG. Benji Helms of Fort Benning, Ga., and Chris Craft and wife, Michelle, of McConnells; three daughters, Linda Stoudt and husband, Scott, of Chester, Lisa Watts and husband, Bud, of Cary, N.C., and Joni Helms of Chester. He is also survived by one brother, Anthony and wife, Margaret Helms, of Chester; four sisters, Darlette and husband, Roman, of Rock Hill, Janet and husband, Robert Caldwell, of Chester, Karen Malloy of Columbia, and Lisa Thomas of Chester. Steve had seven grandchildren, Makayla Helms, Marcus Sager, Olivia Sager, Julia Watts, Jacob and Megan Craft and Ally Watts. He also had a special caregiver, Roy Adkins.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Pollard Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at noon Monday, Jan. 10, at Chester First Church of The Nazarene (weather permitting) and officiated by Pastor John Porter. The burial will be in Chester Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chester First Church of The Nazarene, Life Center Fund, 182 Pinckney St., Chester, SC 29706.
The family is at the home, 859 Beachwood Dr.
Pollard Funeral Home of Chester is serving the family.

Sorry to hear about Steve. I am sure he will be missed by all of you very much. I didn't have a chance to know Steve very well as an adult, but knowing what great parents he had and what a wonderful family he grew up in I am sure he was a fine man.
