CHESTER - Mr. William Arthur "Willie" Cranford Sr., 86, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at Chester Regional Nursing Center.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael P. Shaffer officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Barron Funeral Home.
Born Oct. 16, 1924, in Lockhart, S.C., Mr. Cranford was a son of the late John Hopper Cranford Sr. and Alice Reagan Cranford. He was a graduate of Chester High School and the former owner and operator of Smith Furniture.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patsy Mullinax Cranford; one daughter, Phyllis Cranford Morgan and Ron Johnson of Chester; one son, William Arthur "Billy" Cranford Jr. of Chester; one grandson, Hap Morgan and fiancé, Margaret Harris of Chester; one great-granddaughter, Layla Bayne Morgan of Chester; one sister, Evelyn Cranford Mathews of Chester; special friends, Patti Smith and Summer Smith of Chester and Zach Smith of Myrtle Beach; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Buford, John H. and J.B. Cranford.
