Bonye Mae Joiner, 86, of Benton Harbor went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at Serenity Shores Assisted Living, Stevensville.

A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph with Pastor Mike Fields officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior from noon to 2 p.m. also at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at a later date in Millburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Kathleen Kirby.

Bonye was born on April 29, 1935, to Riney and Olga (Stubel) Dill in Benton Harbor.

On July 19, 1952, she married the love of her life, James A. Joiner in Benton Harbor. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage before he passed away in 2017. Bonye and James loved the Lord and hunting and fishing together. Bonye was devoted to her family and greatly cherished time spent with them.

Bonye is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Kirby; grandchildren: Sherry (Kenneth Crowder) Kehn, Kenneth Kirby, and Jason (Mandy) Joiner; and great-grandchildren: Marc Metelko, Meagan (Nathaniel) Tallman, Hailey Metelko, Savannah Joiner, Drake Joiner, Brianna Joiner and Dillan Joiner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Riney and Olga; husband, James A. Joiner; son, James F. Joiner; grandson, Jared; and four brothers.
