Carmen was born on June 17, 1959, at Mercy Hospital in Benton Harbor to Frank and Margaret (Grumbir) Bovo.
He graduated from Lake Michigan Catholic High School in 1977.
Carmen was a prestigious and accomplished banker for nearly 20 years. While working in banking, he also worked as a reserve police officer for both the Lincoln Township and Benton Township police departments. With law enforcement being his true professional passion, Carmen left banking and at the age of 42, graduated from the KVCC police academy.
He worked as a police officer for the city of Buchanan until his retirement in 2019. He was the proud president of the Benton Harbor Lions Club for many years and also the president of the Stevensville Chamber of Commerce. He was a dedicated Catholic and a devoted parishioner to SS John/Bernard's Catholic Church.
In 2007, he met the love of his life, Amanda, and they became husband and wife on Sept. 29, 2012.
Carmen loved playing the front nine at his favorite golf course, Pipestone Creek. He also loved playing his drums, going to the movies, listening to his very favorite band, The Beatles, and taking long motorcycle rides by himself or with his friends. However, his true passion was spending time with his family. His children and grandchildren meant everything to him. Carmen was a wonderful, courageous, humorous, and loving man who will be missed dearly by all who were blessed to know and love him.
Carmen is survived by his loving wife, Amanda; sons: Anthony, Jonathan (Brittany), and Nicholas Bovo; grandchildren: Bronson, Brynleigh and Breckin Bovo; and siblings: Michael (Patrice), Joseph, and Thomas (Renee) Bovo, and Christine (Kirk) Duncombe.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Margaret.

Very sad to hear. I was a friend of Carmen when we were in elementary school together and grew up right across the street. My sympathies to the Bovo family.
