Claude L. Snider, Sr., passed away Sept. 30, 2025, with family at his side. He was born Aug. 11, 1937, to William L. Snider Sr. and Hannah (Lay) Snider, in Louisville, Ky. He married Caryl Amundsen on June 17, 1961, in Chicago. They moved to Hartford shortly after, where they raised their family and Claude has called it home since.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Chuck and Lee; granddaughter, Samantha Anthony; brothers, Bill and Tommy; and his second wife, Mildred Snider.
He leaves behind two daughters, Christine (Rick) Anthony, of Lawrence, and Catherine (Greg) Marquart. His first born grandchild, Ashley (Billy) Conklin, and her children "Little Bill," Aubriana, Dominik and Cooper Conklin all of Mattawan – who will fondly remember great-grandpa "Winky" as an intense video game competitor, who didn't like to lose – two sisters, Karen and Tammy; grandchildren Erin, Melinda and Nick; great-granddaughter Alexia and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Claude's life will be held Oct. 25, 2025 at the United Methodist Church in Hartford, Mich. Visitation will start at 11 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service. Family is asking everyone to wear something patriotic in memory of Claude.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to "the back pack fund" at the UMC in Hartford or to the Berrien County Area Agency on Aging.
Cremation has taken place.
