David Carl Hauch was born July 8, 1948, to Ernest and Dorothy Hauch in St. Joseph. He grew up in Stevensville, first attending St. Paul's Lutheran School, then Gard School and Maple Grove for individuals with special needs.
David, who has always had strong faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, was called home to heaven on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, at Caretel Inns of St. Joseph after a two-year battle with cancer.
David had a love for nature and crafting. He spent a lot of time in his woodworking room creating various scroll saw and hand-carved arts. He also spent much of his time crocheting, needlepointing, knitting and tending to his mother's yard where he helped garden and cared for the various wildlife that resided in the woods behind the family home. He took great pride in his abilities and loved to share his talents with others.
In his early adult life, David worked for "Fuzzy's" garage off John Beers Road and worked a packaging job with King Industries, a career made possible by Maple Grove. He also enjoyed dancing, riding his moped around town, bowling, archery, video games, Archie Comics, and helping care for numerous nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his father, Ernest; mother, Dorothy; sisters: Donna (Klug) and Margaret (Peggy Moneta).
He is survived by his brothers: Richard and Steven: sisters Linda and Ruth (Young): and his many nieces and nephews that he loved.
A celebration of life service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 2673 John Beers Road, Stevensville, with Pastor Jesse Knox officiating. Visitation precedes the service from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the church. Private family internment will be at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville on Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sarrett Nature Center or to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
