Edward Eggert Obituary
Edward Emil Eggert, 87, of New Buffalo passed away in his home on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo.
Ed was born on May 27, 1938, in Michigan City, Ind., to the late Edward Leo and Elsie (Sass) Eggert.
Ed was a 1956 graduate of New Buffalo High School. On Oct. 16, 1965, he married Ruth Ann Kliss. He owned and operated "Eggerts Service" for more than 50 years in New Buffalo. Ed was always available to help people in trouble, and to fix the ills of your vehicle. He was loved and will be missed by many a friend and especially by his family.
Ed is survived by his wife of over 60 years Ruth; and his son, John "Tiger" Eggert.
Preceding him in death are two sisters: LaVerne Warnke and Marge Wente.
Visitation with the family will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo. A celebration of life service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, at the funeral home. Burial follows in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo.
Memorial contributions may be made to Corewell Health Hospice and Palliative Care. Friends wishing to leave the family a message of condolence may do so at www.sommerfeld chapel.com.

Ed has beena great friend since our school days in New Buffalo. He rescued my car many times. We bowled together at Theo's Lanes. I still have my Eggerts Service bowling shirt in a closet.We had a lot of fun days together.
