Juanita Robinson

Mother Juanita Robinson, 95, of Winnetka, Calif., formerly of Benton Harbor departed this life Aug. 28, 2025. A service celebrating her life will be held Sept. 20, at the Second Baptist Church, Benton Harbor. Juanita was born on Oct. 13, 1929, in Pascola, Mo. She became a Christian at the age of 11 years old and her parents along with several of her sisters moved to Benton Harbor in the early 1940s. Juanita joined Pilgrim Rest M.B.C. and faithfully served as a member for 20 years.

In 1946, Juanita, who sang in the choir, caught the eye of Leonard Robinson, who served in several capacities as a member of Pilgrim Rest. The two were united in holy matrimony on May 7, 1947.

Juanita became the minister's wife in 1958 when her husband was called into the ministry. In 1963, her husband, Leonard, founded Christian Light MBC. During her 53 years at Christian Light, Juanita served in many roles. She was known for speaking throughout the community on Women's Day programs, being a prayer warrior and she willingly mentored children and adults.

Mother Robinson leaves to cherish her memory her children: Arthur Lee (Sylvia), Darlene Fort, DaWanda Howard (Harley), Julian Dale (Yesenia), Aretha Marshalle, stepdaughter, Barbara Roberson (Richard); sister, Vinnie Pickett and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sons; seven brothers and nine sisters.
