Karl M. Bacon, 72, of Dowagiac passed away to his reward on Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 9, 1949, in Dowagiac to the late Richard (Agnes) Bacon Jr. and Luegennia Stephens-Bacon.
Karl graduated from Dowagiac Union High School, Class of 1967.
In 1969, Karl enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served his country proudly, receiving his honorable discharge in 1971.
He had worked for many years with L.A.D.D. Inc. and enjoyed the people he worked with as well as the clients. In his free time, Karl enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Niles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Albert Bacon.
Karl is survived by his brothers: Donald Bacon of Texas, Randy (Juanita) Bacon of Dowagiac, Richie Bacon of Dowagiac, Willie Cosey of Niles, Robert Stephens-Bacon of Dowagiac, Jeffery (Sylvia) Holliman of Dowagiac, Kevin (Jonna) Bacon of Dowagiac, Dennis (Barbara) Bacon of Dowagiac and Pastor Bryant Sr. (Monica) Bacon of Niles; sisters: Ava (Charles) Bly of Virginia, Terrie (Jessie) Miller of Dowagiac, Sylvia Brown of Elkhart and Patricia Betts of Dowagiac; stepmother, Agnes M. Bacon of Niles; godson, Michael Shayne Bacon; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at noon on Saturday, Feb. 19, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Bryant L. Bacon Sr., officiating. A time of visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Full Military Honors will be rendered at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Battle Creek, Mich.
