Keith Douglas Pompey, 80, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, surrounded by his family in Lawrence. Keith was born on Feb. 27, 1944, in Paw Paw, to the late Kenneth Pompey and Gladys (Lowman) Pompey.
Along with his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his loving wife, Cheryl Denise (Anderson) Pompey; son, Craig Pompey and brother-in-law, Robert Brooks.
Left to cherish the memory of Keith is his son, Kenneth Pompey; grandchildren: Sabrina (Josh) Beeching, Keith (Summer) Pompey, Samantha (Zach) Tansey; 10 great-grandchildren, and sisters: Marica (John) Molter and Beverly Brooks.
Known for his passion for dirt racing, Keith spent many exhilarating weekends at the Hartford Motor Speedway, where he shared his love for the sport with friends and fellow enthusiasts. Beyond the race track, Keith found tranquility traveling the country in his motorhome, creating memories in every corner of the nation.
His heart, however, always led him back home to the cherished moments spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their laughter and stories filled his days with warmth and purpose. A man of simple pleasures, Keith often could be found with a fishing pole in hand, basking in the serenity of nature's embrace, or relaxing at home while tuning into Fox News to stay informed about the world around him. Keith's zest for life, his unwavering love for his family, and the joy he gleaned from his interests will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
