Maria Lamourt Obituary
Maria Julia Torres Lamourt, 76, of Benton Harbor went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2021, at home surrounded by her family. Services will be held in Holuoak, Mass. Those wishing to sign the guest book online may do so at www.robbinsbrothersfh.com.
Maria was born May 28, 1944, in Salinas, Puerto Rico, to Urguenio and Ursula Alvarado.
At 21 years of age, she relocated to the United States and was employed at a shoe factory in Manhattan. In 1967, Maria met the love of her life when she bumped into Alexis Lamourt on the stairs of the subway station. Alexis kept Maria from falling, however, neither could keep from falling in love with one another and they were married in 1978. Maria loved to sing church hymns, spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and home were important to her.
Maria is survived by her daughters: Therese Lamourt, Betsy Lamourt, Alba Lamourt and Alexandra Lamourt (Martin) Medina; stepson, Alex Lamourt; sisters: Maria Del Carman Torres, Nereada Torres, Mirna Torres, Margareta Torres, Haydee Torres and Judith Evette Torres; brothers: Urguenio Torres, Hector Louis Torres, Juan Bautizta Torres and Maxsimiliano Torres; grandchildren: Jalen J. Roman, Denzel Rivera, Ariel Adrain Davila, Christopher Torres, Christaly Rivera, Jenise Lomourt and Johnathan Roman; great-grandchildren: Alannie Walsh, Armani Bermudez, Jianny Velez; and a host of family and friends.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Martha Milagros Torres and Maria Milagros Torres; brothers: Raphael Lito Torres and Raphael "Ralphie" Torres.
