Mary F. (Lucker) Stegman, 82, of Missouri City, Texas, peacefully passed away April 20, 2025, at Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center in Houston.
She was born Dec. 15, 1942, to the late Robert and Mary (Stroba) Lucker in St. Joseph. Mary attended Lakeshore High School and earned two associate degrees from Lake Michigan College.
She raised her family in Michigan before relocating to Texas in 2006. Mary loved people and never met a stranger; she enjoyed laughing, reading, solving puzzles and watching "Jeopardy!"
She had a deep appreciation for music, art and nature and she particularly enjoyed attending basketball games, family reunions and dog shows. Mary was a longtime member of the Houston Symphony and The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. Her Lutheran faith provided her with comfort and strength throughout her life.
Mary derived immense pride and joy from her family, especially her children. She will be greatly missed by all, including her canine companion, Scotty.
Her life will be forever cherished by her surviving children: Steven Stegman of Stevensville, Angela Stegman of Missouri City and Jeannine Stegman of Marietta, Ga. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sierra Stegman and Robert Finch III, as well as her sisters: Roberta (Robert) Luttke and Christine (William) Lockwitz.
Graveside funeral services will be held at a later date in Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville.
