Paul Douglas "Doug" Soelle Jr., 86, of St. Joseph, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
Doug was born on Oct. 2, 1938, to Paul Douglas Soelle and Marion (Edward) Soelle, in Mineola, N.Y. In 1958, Doug proudly served our county in the United States Army before being honorably discharged in 1964. During his life, he worked in the hospitality industry and the Holiday Inn. Douglas married Judith Jones on Aug. 14, 1999. In Doug's spare time, he enjoyed politics, traveling and playing golf. His most cherished time was spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his three daughters and one son, Corin (Chuck) Bauers, Paul Douglas Soelle III, Sheri (Scott) McMurray and Lori (Guido) Boers; Stepson Nick (Jill) Jones; grandchildren, Tyler, Bryce, Jasper, Carson and Jackson; step-granddaughters, Madeline, Ava, Claire, Bridget and Emma; sister, Patrica Witzeman; and step-son-in-law, Tim Lawley.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter Deborah Lawley in 2003.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, 10 a.m. at Episcopal Church of the Mediator in Harbert, 14280 Red Arrow Highway, Harbert, MI 49115. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit with Doug's family on Saturday from 9:30-10 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road in St. Joseph. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
