Randall "Randy" Gerard Baldwin, 65, of St. Joseph passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, March 30, 2021.
Randy was born on Feb. 16, 1956, to Virginia and Orville Baldwin, who preceded him in death.
Randy was an amazing, son, brother, father, uncle, and best friend you could ever have. He was the oldest of seven children; a confidant and right hand to his mother, as well as our wonderful big brother with a heart of gold. He was one of the kindest, loving people you could ever know. He was always there to help and give encouragement, and no matter how busy, he always made time for us.
He went on to become the proud father of three boys whom he greatly loved and adored, mentoring them through the years. He carried his love for sports on to his children, especially baseball – he loved the Chicago Cubs. He also taught them auto mechanics and how to build while building two home additions with them by his side. As his sons grew older, Sundays were reserved for family dinners.
Randy was a hard worker holding multiple jobs for many years. Prior to his graduation from BHHS, he began his career working at the BH-SJ Joint Wastewater Treatment Plant until he retired in 2016, making him the longest employee ever with over 40 years. While maintaining his full-time job he also worked part-time at Meijer stocking shelves, and at The Herald-Palladium as a route delivery driver.
In 2014, he acquired a Boston terrier named "Gia" and she went everywhere with him. The two of them would take daily walks around the neighborhood getting to know all the other canines and their owners, which he often talked about.
Randy leaves behind to cherish his memories, his children: Brian Shockley of Coloma, Chris (Heather) Shockley of Benton Harbor, and Mike (Maria) Shockley of California; siblings: Tim (Phyllis) Baldwin of Watervliet, Mary Baldwin of St. Joseph, Janice (Daniel) Baldwin of Benton Harbor, Sharon Christians of Benton Harbor, Regina Sando of Coloma, and Jennifer (Mike) Howell of Benton Harbor; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, and uncles, and his beloved canine companion, Gia.
Gone too soon, you will forever live in our hearts and be greatly missed until we are united in our Heavenly Father's Kingdom. We love you Randy!
A funeral Mass will be held for Randy, and his mother, Virginia, at 11 a.m. Friday, April 16, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 555 E. Delaware Ave., Benton Harbor, MI 49022. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Benton Harbor.
