Jane Rourk was my colleague first then my friend and mentor. Jane was a sharp observer and employed her intelligence, insight and many talents to support occupational therapy, NC public schools and students with disabilities throughout NC. She was a true leader. Jane shaped her profession, especially practice in schools and many people she encountered. Jane Rourk was a model of integrity, problem-solving and faith. When I first visited First Presbyterian Church in Durham (her home church), one of the highest endorsements I ever received was Jane's enthusiastic encouragement for me to join. She hustled me right to our pastor Mindy. Knowing how important her faith and church family was to her, and how great her insight to human nature, I deeply appreciated the honor this action bestowed on her estimation of my character.

I love Jane Rourk and to this day try to emulate the grace and professionalism she brought to her work and the priority and consistent effort she brought to her faith and family. The light Jane brought to the world will not dim.

My sincere condolences to her children, dear Davis and all who loved this great woman. My prayer is that her impact on us and fun, fond memories will provide some comfort. Rest in peace, Jane.
