Martha Taylor Obituary
February 12, 1944 - November 4, 2023
Raleigh, North Carolina - Martha Pearson Taylor passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at age 79 after a six-year battle with lung cancer. She was born in Wilson, North Carolina and lived in Raleigh for 58 years.
Martha was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to cook, dance, play the piano, and sing in her church choir. She sang in the choir for 40 years and taught piano lessons for many years. Professionally, Martha worked as an accountant for Goldston's Building Supply for 10 years and as financial secretary for Bayleaf Baptist Church for 17 years.
Martha loved to laugh and make others laugh; she never took herself too seriously. She was vibrant with a huge personality; she loved to travel and have adventures and make memories. She loved her family and friends deeply.
Martha was happy in the knowledge that she was leaving this world to be with her Lord and Savior.
Martha is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ray Taylor; their son, Steve Taylor (wife, Tabatha and their daughters, Darby and Cami Taylor); their daughter, Bethany Taylor (and her daughter, Piper Cook); and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM at North Raleigh United Methodist Church (8501 Honeycutt Road), where Martha was a charter member.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Martha Taylor Scholarship fund at North Raleigh United Methodist Church. www.nrumc.org/givenow.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and personnel at Duke Cancer Center, Hospital and Hock Family Pavilion hospice center in Durham, NC for all the excellent care they provided.
