Today is the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Every year on this day I can't help but relive the events of that morning over again in my mind, but this is the first year that the teacher's name popped into my head, and I decided to Google his name, which is how I ended up here.
I was in the Colonel's 8 AM Business Law class at Campbell the morning of 9/11, as a sophomore. Another student in the class left the room to go to the bathroom, and upon re-entering the classroom, walked down and said something to Colonel Raisig. There was a TV in the lobby at the business school, and it was always tuned to one of the business news channels. The student had seen the news of the first plane hitting the north tower, and told our teacher about it. He announced it to the class, and we all went out into the hallway to see for ourselves what was going on. As we stood there collectively, we witnessed the second plane striking the south tower. I don't remember much after that, but I do remember Colonel Raisig being incredibly calm and comforting to all of us.
I'm sorry to learn at this late date of his passing. I wish I'd known more when I was his student about his decorated past. Rest in peace.

The Colonel was a Campbell Law School classmate and a good and dear friend of mine. We stayed in fairly close contact until 9/11, after which I closed my law office in Fayetteville and started many deployments with the Marines in our fight in the Global War Against Terrorism.
I admired, respected and loved Paul; and greatly appreciated his friendship and sage advice, starting in law school and continuing through the years.
He signed a copy of his book for me, after I returned from a deployment to Iraq in 2005. I just had to go find it and read it again in his honor, today. He was a great and humble warrior, a great husband, a great father, a great friend and an Awesome Campbell Lawyer!
I would be honored to attend his interment at Arlington, if allowed. Please know that I, and others that you do not know, cared deeply about your Dad and his beloved Bride, your mother.
Very sincerely, respectfully and Semper Fidelis,
Tim Dunn

Bud. You were a great school classmate in Lodi, Ohio and a great military officer. I was privileged to have met your lovely wife Carolyn while you and I were stationed at Fort Bliss, TX in 1955. It was also a pleasure to have occasional visits with both of you while we loved in the Washington, DC area. My best to your family. RIP Colonel.
