Durham, North Carolina - Known to friends and family as Peter Rabbit passed away peacefully in his Durham home the morning of May 24, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred, his brother Jimmy and sister Dorothy.
Robert was a good man. Always wanting to be of service to those who met him. He served his country during Vietnam as a Drill Sergeant in the United States Army (Ft. Lewis Washington). A fact that usually surprised people who met him because he was so nice. Robert retired from American Tobacco Company in the late 90s after 20 years, but later went back to work at Treyburn Country Club's golf course. He was a fisherman, a softball pitcher, a bowler but absolutely adored playing golf. Any way he could play, he played. On the course, in his backyard and in his bedroom. Later in life, when Robert's eyesight began to fail him on the real course, learned to use an Xbox to play golfing video games.
Robert loved God and family. Nothing was more precious to him. He leaves behind his wife, Gloria, his daughters Angela, Camillasean (Douglas), and Robbin; one granddaughter, Aubrey; brothers Ellis (Mary), Milton, Ronald, and sister Loretta (Chris); along with a host of nieces and nephews who will all miss him and his smiling face dearly.
