Stephanie "Stacy" Couch Emory, 49, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at her home in Durham. She was born and raised in Durham, survived by her parents George Hackney Couch and Barbara Ann Couch. In addition to her parents, she is also survived by her daughter, Chelsea Brianne Couch; step-mother, Teresa Couch; brother, Justin Couch (Devon); paternal grandmother; Patricia Couch; maternal grandmother, Betty Perry; and her beloved pet, Georgia.

Ms. Emory is predeceased by her paternal grandfather, James Robert Couch; and maternal grandfather, J.B. Hursey.

Stacy attended New Horizon Church and was a 1986 graduate of Northern High School. She attended East Carolina University and graduated from Durham Technical Community College as a paralegal. She was formerly employed with Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and most recently worked in the Emergency Room at Duke until her illness. She fought a courageous two year battle with brain cancer and never once complained. Stacy was a kind and generous daughter, mother, aunt, niece, cousin, sister and friend who was loved by all.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7pm on Sunday, January 14th at Clements Funeral Home in Durham. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, January 15th at Clements Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Parker and Pastor Anggie Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will include Clay Cawthorne, Chris McGhee, Randy McGhee, Steve Hicks, Noel Parker and Terry Kelly.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to help support Chelsea's education by donation to her 529 education fund. Contributions may be sent to Stacy's mother.
