Bud Carson

Bud Carson, 75, Sarasota, died Dec. 7, 2005. He was born April 28, 1930, in Freeport, Pa., and came to Sarasota 10 years ago from Philadelphia. He retired as a college and NFL football coach and was a Pennsylvania Hall of Fame recipient. He graduated from the University of North Carolina and was a Marine veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sarasota. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Linda F.; daughters Dana C. Williams of Orangeburg, S.C., and Cathi Carson of Jacksonville; a son, Clifford of Beverly Hills, Calif.; a stepson, Gary Ford of Atlanta; brothers Guy of Freeport, Harry of Punta Gorda and Gib of Richmond, Va.; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Sarasota. Flowers will be accepted; however, those who wish may make a donation in his memory to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
