Carl N. Bender of Bradenton, FL. formerly of Wilmington, DE. died Friday, April 7th 2017. Visitation will be held from 10:30 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 11th with services to follow at the Toale Brothers Funeral Home at 40 N. Orange Ave., Sarasota. Burial will follow at the Sarasota National Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
Born in Charleston WV , he lived in and attended Nitro WV. Schools and was an Engineering graduate of West Virginia Univ. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1946-1949 and 1950-1952 both at home and abroad. He was employed by AstraZeneca Pharm. Co for 27 years before retiring to Bradenton in 1993. He was a member of the Sahib Shrine Temple and Kirby Stewart Post 24, American Legion, and Rosedale Golf and CC.
He leaves his wife of 67 years, Edie, two sons and spouses,(Richard/Julie and Robert/Maria)) five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Guardian Parents and one Sister.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, Bradenton, or Food Bank of Manatee.

Carl was a good and kind man and a faithful volunteer for years at Adopt A Family helping provide Christmas presents for thousands of children in Manatee County. Always willing to help wherever he was needed, he touched the lives of many..
