Daniel Hutchinson, 73, of Venice, FL, died Thursday, October 30, 2014. He had been ill for the last two months.
Dan was born in Cleveland, Ohio to George and Julia Hutchinson. He is survived by his brothers Mike (Kathy) of Venice, Mark (Cathy) and Dave (Carol) of Cleveland, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also, his very special friend, and the love of his life, Tami Weaver.
After High School 1949, Dan entered the United States Navy and retired as a Chief Medical Service Corps Warrant Officer in 1979. He got his board Certified Physician's Assistant Degree in 1972, and a BS Degree in Health Sciences, both from George Washington University. He served two tours in Vietnam. Upon his return to the States he held the position of Director of the Executive Medical Clinic at the National Naval Center. He was assigned additional duty at the White House in both the Nixon and Carter administrations. His clients included, the President, Vice President, Members of Congress and the Supreme Court.
After his retirement from the Navy, he held several senior management positions including Vice President, General Manager of McDonnell Douglas Federal Systems for ten years. He was founder and CEO of Diversified Business Systems, a utility auditing firm. In 1997 he moved to Venice. He was a member of the Venice-Nokomis Elks Lodge #1854 and served as Exalted Ruler. He was a President and District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler of the Southwest Florida District. He was a member of the American Legion NO-VEL Post 159.
Dan loved sports of all kinds and played football and baseball. Ohio State was his favorite college team, but if any game was on, he was watching it.
The family is planning a burial at Sarasota National Cemetery with military honors at a later date. All Veterans-All Families Funeral & Cremations is in charge.
