David Brian Follansbee, 57, Sarasota, died Dec. 24, 2008.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his mother, Betty, of Hubbardston, Mass.; brothers Robert Jr. of Lancaster, Mass., Bradford of Sarasota, Scott of Clinton, Mass., and Justin of Lancaster, Mass.; sisters Deborah Blaisdell of Acton, Maine, Diane Goguen of Hubbardston, Mass., and Penny Sullivan of Lancaster, Mass.
He is also survived by nieces Jenny Borst and Nicole Goguen; and many more nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Follansbee, and brother Keith Follansbee.
Memorial donations may be made to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238

David was one of the most wonderful human beings I have ever known. Since hearing he has left this earth for a better place, he has been in my thoughts constantly. David you are not gone, you are just away. Thank you for being Susans friend and then mine since you were part of Susan and Meghans world. Being born less than 24hrs apart was really special. He may not have known it, but every year I wished David a Happy Birthday out loud. I can remember being home once and seeing his smiling face, and even though it wasn't our birthdays, we wished each other a happy one anyway. Had so much fun growing up at the Follansbee house! One of my most favorite cousins!

It has been so many years since we have seen each other. I remember your kind shining eyes and your beautiful smile at all of our family gatherings. To the Follansbee Family,
My sympathy is extended to you all on David's passing.
My Mother and I have known him for several years. He was so very helpful and kind last year when she passed away from kidney cancer. He has used his training and skills to solve my problems when the doctors had exhausted their knowledge. David will be missed but not forgotten by a great many people.

Dave worked here at Gulfcoast Physical Therapy for about a year. Over the course of that time he became loved, not only by the patients who he helped so much, but also by the staff. He was one of the most well rounded people I have met. Funny, caring, gentle... He will be missed. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Dearest David, how our lives were blessed with your friendship - for the past so many years you came into our hearts long before you ever came into our home but then our home was never the same once you came smiling through the door. You always took care of us long before you would think of yourself. Yet with each passing year we could not think of our days and celebrations without you being a part of them. You are a part of our hearts forever, tucked next to the memories that made us laugh and love. Your caring, and thoughtful concern was always so genuine even when you and Gary tried to get me over the rough bits. How I loved to share my secrets with you. You are one of a kind and Gary and I are so rich to have been one of your friends. I will miss you but I will never forget you. Dear David, You have always been there for me, you are my friend and my rock.You went beyond friendship and became family to Meghan,Aubie and I, we will miss you so much and you will always be a part of my heart. We were each others families when no one was there,you always made sure that Meghan and I were never alone at holidays and you were such a part of her life growing up as a surrogate father to her. David you made me laugh and giggle when I didn't think I could go on anymore you were my listener and sports buddy. We all had so much fun at the Rays game and the Bucs game, my friends became yours and your friends became mine. It' the friends you can call at 4am that really matter!
Sometimes our light goes out but is blown into the flame by another human being. We all owe the deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this light.
