Donald Nolt Obituary
Sarasota - Donald L. Nolt, 80, of Sarasota, FL, died July 18, 2021. Donald was born an only child in Ephrata, PA. In early childhood he attended a one-room schoolhouse in Pennsylvania's Dutch country. He graduated from McCann School of Business.
During his career as a Professional Musician from 1958-1965 Donald had an opportunity to tour Germany, France and Italy for the USO. Donald moved to Sarasota in 1973 where he worked as the Business Manager at Ringling College from 1974-1978. He then took over as Vice President for Business Affairs at Ringling College from 1978-2000 where he served under 5 of Ringling's presidents. After leaving Ringling College in 2000 Donald became a Real Estate Broker which he enjoyed until his retirement in 2016.
Over Donald's life he serviced as President of the Rotary Club of Sarasota, Chairman of the Board at Plymouth Harbor and Ecumenical Board for Campus Ministry, Board Member for the Education Foundation, Chairman for the Finance Committee of the Ringling College Library Association and Sahib Shine, Board of Directors for Scenic Trails Council Boy Scouts of America, a 32nd Degree Mason, and an Elder at the Church of the Palms.
In 1977 Donald had the honor of being named one of the Outstanding Young Men of America.
Donald was a beloved public figure. A dear father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by many who loved him. He loved many things but some of his favorites were his wife of 34 years, Donna, his family and everyone that touched him throughout his career - especially at Ringling College.
Donald is survived by his children, Gayle Nolt Cherry, Bill Nolt, and Todd Nolt; step children, Marc Gambardella and Todd Cambardella; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Donald's Life will be held August 7, 2021 at 3:30 pm at the Church of the Palms, 3224 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota with a reception to follow.
National Cremation and Burial Society, Sarasota is handling the cremation.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made your favorite charity or Tidewell Hospice.

IT WAS MY HONOR TO KNOW AND BE A FRIEND OF DON'S FOR MOST OF MY 23 YEARS IN SARASOTA. HE WAS A PERSONABLE MAN WITH A KIND HEART. AFTER WE BOTH MOVED AWAY FROM SARASOTA WE KEPT IN TOUCH ON AN INFREQUENT BASIS OVER THE INTERNET. HE SENT SOME OF THE MOST INTERESTING ITEMS THAT I RECEIVED. MAY GOD BLESS DON'S FAMILY AND KNOW AS YOU DO THAT HE WAS A GOOD MAN WHO LOVED HIS FAMILY AND COMMUNITY.
