Sarasota - Joan Ann Larkin of Sarasota, Florida passed to her heavenly home on August 8, 2021. She was born on August 9, 1931 to Eugene and Bernice Neupert in Saint Louis, Missouri. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Joseph James Larkin, Sr. Joan is survived by her sister Bernice "Bunny" Remelius (Ken) of Springfield, MO, nine children, Maureen Kerschner (Jeff) of Knoxville, TN, Kevin Larkin (Linda) of Sarasota, FL, Joe Larkin Jr. (Smaro) of Sarasota, FL, John Larkin (Darlene) of Ruston, LA, Michael Larkin (Darby) of Sarasota, FL, Joannie Padgett (John) of Sarasota, FL, Teresa Atyeo (Tim) of Parkland, FL, Julie Larkin (Ed) of Sarasota, FL, Peter Larkin (Marcie) of Tampa, FL, 20 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

Joan graduated nursing school from St. John's Hospital in Saint Louis, MO in 1952. She married in 1955 and moved with her husband to Ohio where they began their family and lived for 22 years. Joan raised 9 children and worked in the office of her husband's family medicine practice.

In 1978, they relocated to Sarasota, FL. Joan was a member of the Country Club of Sarasota and TPC where she enjoyed golfing with her husband and many friends. She also enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, socializing, and spending time with family. Joan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Joan was a faithful Catholic who instilled in her children the importance of faith in living a full and happy life. She never missed a Sunday Mass and led by example in her devotion to the Lord and His unending faithfulness. Joan lived a blessed life focused on her family and took immense pride in her children and grandchildren.
