Jonas Howard Obituary
May 6, 1932 - Jan. 23, 2009
Jonas Howard, age 76, Salisbury, N.C., formerly of Sarasota, died Jan. 23, 2009, due to complications from surgery. Jonas, Professor Emeritus at Indiana University Southeast, was born and raised in Jeffersonville, Ind. He spent the past 15 years in Sarasota before relocating to Salisbury N.C.
After a 34-year teaching career, Jonas continued to paint and exhibit his work and is represented in numerous corporate and private collections throughout the country. While living in Sarasota, he also maintained his professional tenor voice as an active participant of Key Chorale and First United Methodist Church .
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mimi Howard; and a sister, Janet Miller, of Birmingham Ala. Jonas will also be missed by numerous in-laws and nieces and nephews.
