Robert Bego Obituary
August 09, 1929 - August 19, 2017
Robert Joseph Bego, Beloved Father, Husband, Coach, Hero and Friend, passed away on August 19 at home surrounded by family. He was born August 09, 1929 in Indianapolis to the late Gerald and Martha (Woodard) Bego. Bob was a graduate of Howe High School and had attended IUPUI. Bob served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bob retired from American General as VP of Central Indiana. He was an avid golfer and fan of the Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, Purdue Boilermakers, and the Boston Red Sox. Bob was also a member of the Roundtable and former President and long term member of Maple Creek Country Club. Bob loved playing golf, coaching basketball and baseball. In retirement Bob enjoyed spending winters in Venice, Florida.
Surviving is his wife, Simone Bego of Venice, Florida; son David Bego and his wife Barbara of Indianapolis, daughter, Nancy Scheumann of Fort Wayne, IN; brothers, James Bego of Carlsbad, CA and Gary Bego of Hillsboro, OH; 6 grandchildren, Kelly Simerly, Mark Bego, Brian Bego, Angie Blotkamp, Kari Henry and Scott Scheumann; and 10 great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Bego and his 2nd wife, Doris Leighton Bego. Doris's grandchildren, Natalie and Nicole also survive. Bob's son-in-law, Michael Scheumann also preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 4-7 PM at Flanner and Buchanan-Geist, 7855 Cork Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46236. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Holy Spirit Geist, 10350 Glaser Way, Fishers, IN. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis with military rites following Mass and a luncheon at Holy Spirit.

Bob , was a coach in my early teens on Summit City Securities. We won the championship my firtst year in Babe Ruth Baseball league. He was a kind mentir who took time to teach you something.He took team mates like O'keefe,,Berry,, Durick, ,Morris twins, and many more to the top of their game. I think back to the days with this kind soul and thank God for the souls he touched ..God Bless

I send my sympathy to all Bob's family. I haven't seen or heard of Bob for a long time and didn't know an address. I have lots of good memories of Bob and Phyllis on Stadale. I send my prayers and thoughts to all of you.
