William Skene

1928 - 2015

Skene, William “Bill” Edward; age 87; passed peacefully on February 26, 2015 at HFWB. Born on January 1, 1928 in Peterborough, Ontario to Wm. Skene and Johanna Bertha Erber, immigrants from Scotland and England, Bill was orphaned as a teen and taken in by the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis Allen. In 1958, he married Anita Smith, mother of his children, in Windsor, ON. In 1996, he married Angela Piazza, who survives. Bill worked in a variety of fields from professional photography to a Wonder Bread deliveryman before establishing his own business, WESAN Medical Equipment Company, where he invented 2 life-saving medical devices: the Hyperbaric Bag and Aero-vent. He was a loving husband and devoted father who enjoyed golfing, Red Wings hockey, collecting and restoring antiques and playing the banjo. Bill is survived by children: Michele (Mark) Bender, Julie Skene and Brian (Brenda) Skene; grandchildren: Ashley, Kristina, Rebecca and Rachel; brother-in-law Philip Bonneau; nieces and nephews, Carol (Terry) Galloway, Janet Christiaens and Gary (Carole) Trumble; special friend Sr. Mary Symphoria Boros. He is preceded in death by his parents; foster parents; wife Anita; sister Mary Trumble Bonneau; brother-in-law Arthur Trumble; and niece Linda Trumble Watkins. Cremation has taken place.
