Carl Hirschvogel

1944 - 2016

Carl "Sonny" Hirschvogel, 72, of Hermann, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis.
Carl was born in St. Louis on Feb. 29, 1944, a son of the late Carl Griffin and Mary (Holland) Spreckelmeyer.
He was the husband of Judith (McIntyre) Hirschvogel. They were married on Dec. 18, 1968, at Belleville, Illinois. Judy survives at the home.
He is also survived by their three children, a daughter Cheryl Dixon and husband William, of Chamois, Missouri; a son, Steve Hirschvogel of St. Louis; a daughter, Terry Krull and husband Kevin, of Swiss, Missouri;
By two sisters, Beverly McManus, of St. Peters, Missouri; and Wanda Limberg and husband Ronnie, of Belle, Missouri; a brother, Edward Griffin, of Porta Vallarta, Mexico;
By a granddaughter, Heather Dixon and fiance' Ben Horstmann; a grandson, Will Dixon and wife Shanna; a granddaughter, Brandi Weiser and husband Andy; a grandson, Kevin Krull, Jr. and wife Megan and a grandson, Justin Hirschvogel.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mike; and a sister, Linda.
Carl proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was a carpenter and worked for Granger Construction Company and also Duggan Construction Company, both of St. Louis. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 1839 of St. Louis.
In his spare time he enjoyed doing side carpentry work, farming, and riding and working with his horses. He mostly loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and great- grandkids.
Visitation will be Monday, April 11, 2016, from 4-6 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, Missouri, where memorial services will follow at 6 p.m.
Memorials may be given to families' choice to help cover final expenses, in care of Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
