Alan Wilson Obituary

Alan Melton Wilson

Alan Melton Wilson, 59, of Hickory, went to be with our Lord, Wednesday evening, July 21, 2021, after his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and a special friend.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Melton Wilson; and mother, Zana Florence Wilson.

He was survived by his brother, Bruce Wilson (Janet) of Reidsville; niece, Erin Wilson of Raleigh; and nephew, Jared McLaughlin of Reidsville.

Alan graduated from Fred T. Ford High School. He then attended Nashville Auto Diesel College. His last employment was by Olde Hickory Brewery in Hickory as a mechanic.

His grandfather, Robert Bruce Studebaker, worked for the railroad in Efland. This stirred an interest in trains which continued throughout his adult life. Alan later served as President of the National Historical Railway Society of Alexander County for several years. Alan was a true friend to everyone.

To all the wonderful people from Hospice of Rockingham County, the family says a very special, "thank you." They truly exemplified what Hospice is all about.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 31, at 11 a.m., at Mt. View Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., at the church, prior to the service. Dr. John Compton will be officiating the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, 2150 NC-65, Reidsville, NC 27320.
