Barbara Barrier VALDESE Mrs. Barbara Ford McNeely Barrier, 80, of Hickory, died Monday, July 30, 2012, at Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley. Mrs. Barrier was born March 29, 1932, in Burke County, a daughter of the late Frank and Claudia Franklin Ford. Barbara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and retired after more than 45 years of service as Payroll Manager for Valdese Weavers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, J.C. McNeely; step-daughter, Jackie Lynn Barrier; brother, Johnny Franklin; and sister, Mary Chapman. Surviving are her husband, Donald L. Barrier, of the home; son, Maynard McNeely and wife, Linda, of Connelly Springs; daughter, Myra Sain and husband, Steve, of Valdese; step-sons, Sammy Ray Barrier and wife, Adalina, of Newton, and George Donald Barrier and wife, Maryland, of Charlotte; sisters, Beulah Wheeling and Betty Halliburton, both of Drexel; and brother, Bill Ford and wife, Faye, of Morganton. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Amanda Bradshaw, Tego Thorneburg, Debbie Richardson, Nikki Wald-roup, Lisa Jenkins; step-grandson, Jerimiah Sain; 18 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Barbara Barrier will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m. in the Shady Grove United Methodist Church with her nephew, the Rev. Bobby Halli-burton, officiating. Interment will be in the Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
