Benjamin Cox Obituary

Benjamin "Ben" Anderson Cox CONOVER Benjamin "Ben" Anderson Cox, 81, of Conover, originally of Lynchburg, Va., passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Abernathy Laurels in Newton. Born May 1, 1931, he was the son of the late Charles Cox and Georgie Cox Christian. He served his country in the Navy and loved attending Covenant Baptist Church where he was a member. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Deborah Cox Seagle; grand-daughter, Sharon Persson; and brother, Joseph E. Cox. Ben is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shirley Brown Cox, of the home; son, Myron Center and wife, Cheryl, of Conover; daughters, Wendy Cox Keller and husband, John, of Conover, Tina Center Persson and husband, Bob, of Tigerville, S.C. and Judy Cox Lister and husband, Johnny, of Spruce Pine; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grand-children. A Service of Remembrance will be held Friday, March 29, at 1 p.m. at Covenant Baptist Church in Conover, with the Rev. Edwin Elmore officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Garden in Hickory with military rites performed by American Legion Post #16. The family will receive friends Friday, from 12 to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Baptist Church Youth Fund, 1031 Rock Barn Rd., Conover, NC 28613. Condolences may be sent to the Cox family at www.drumfh-conover. com. The Cox family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home & Cremations in Conover.
