Billie S. Mackey

HICKORY - Billie Smith Mackey, 75, passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born Feb. 10, 1933, in Glade Springs, Va., she was the daughter of the late Loomis and Nannie Allison Smith. She was a member of Winkler's Grove Baptist Church and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Allen Mackey, and two brothers, Lee Wayne Smith and Jack Smith. Mrs. Mackey is survived by her son, Michael Tadlock of Hickory; son and daughter-in-law, David and Mildred Tadlock of Hickory; sister, Bernice Poston of Hickory; grandchildren, Christopher Tadlock, Billie Gutsinger, Melissa Tadlock and Amy Tadlock; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at Bass-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dale Faulkenbury officiating.
