Brandon Lynn Canipe, 34, of Maiden, passed away Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022.

He was born July 26, 1987, in Catawba County, to Timothy and Paulette Leatherman Canipe of Maiden.

Brandon was a member of Startown First Baptist Church. He graduated from Maiden High School and earned his associate degree at Catawba Valley Community College. Brandon was self-employed and an avid carp fisherman.

Brandon was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Glen Canipe, and maternal grandfather, Paul Leatherman; uncles, Charles Leatherman, Robert Trivette and Gary Canipe; aunt, Shirley Canipe; and cousins, Jake Leatherman and Taiven Canipe.

Those left to cherish his memory are sons, Joseph Canipe of Conover, and Matthew Canipe of Conover; parents, Timothy and Paulette Leatherman Canipe of Maiden; brother, T.J. Canipe and wife, Christina, of Hickory; paternal grandmother, Shelby Canipe of Maiden; maternal grandmother, Anna Leatherman of Newton; uncles, Dexter Canipe and wife Patty of Claremont, Randy Canipe and wife, Becky, of Maiden, Ronnie Canipe of Maiden, Wayne Leatherman and wife, Crystal, of Hickory, and our sweet Josie "Kake"; aunts, Glenda Stidham of Maiden, Crystal Canipe of Greensboro, Deborah Trivette of Newton, and Kathy Buchanan and husband, Steve, of Mountain View; niece, Trinity Canipe of Hickory; nephews, Ben Canipe of Hickory, Eli Canipe of Hickory, and Issac Canipe of Hickory; and a number of cousins.

A service to celebrate Brandon's life will be held Thursday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy. 16 in Newton. The Rev. William Church will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Church in Conover. The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service, prior to the service. Those serving as pallbearers are: Bobby Rhinehardt, Josh Porch, Derick Johnson, Dennis Trivette, Shane Canipe, and Ashton Leatherman.
