Christopher Mundy

Christopher Thomas "Chris" Mundy, 65, of Hickory, N.C., went to be with his Heavenly Father on November 22, 2025, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. A devoted husband, father, son, and grandfather, Chris lived a life grounded in faith, family, and service to others.

Chris graduated from Fred T. Foard High School in 1978 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Appalachian State University in 1982. He began his career with Alex Lee in 1984 and served for 41 years, most recently as Senior Director of Retail Technology. In 2017, he received the Alex Lee President's Award for exemplifying the company's values.

An active member of Christ Lutheran Church, Chris gave generously of his time and talents. He was passionate about running, hiking, and traveling, completing the Boston Marathon and numerous half-marathons, and creating cherished memories with his family on adventures near and far.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ann L. Mundy; daughters, Claudia E. Mundy and Catherine G. Mundy; son-in-law, Obed Mulenda; granddaughter, Cloie R. Everett; parents, Walter T. and Kaye E. Mundy; sister, Crystal L. Jones, and brother-in-law, Michael Jones; and extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 29th, at Christ Lutheran Church, Hickory. Visitation begins at 2 p.m., service at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.

Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory is honored to serve the family of Christopher Mundy.

I WENT TO SCHOOL AND PLAYED BASEBALL WITH CHRIS. I ALSO SOLD HIM A CAR AFTER WE GOT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL. HE WAS ALWAYS A FUN AND POSITIVE PERSON TO BE AROUND. PRAYERS FOR HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
