Daniel Eric Miller

Conover – Daniel Eric Miller, 78, of Conover, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 12th, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center surrounded by family.

Born on May 8th, 1945 in Portsmouth, Virginia, he was the son of the late Vernon Ray and Lois Williams Miller. Daniel graduated from Hudson High School in 1963 and worked in the textile industry for 40+ years until his diagnosis of congestive heart failure in 2004.

Dan was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and a never-ending quest for knowledge. He will forever be known to his family and friends as the man you could always depend on. His retirement years were spent tinkering in his shed, keeping up with the family horse farm, and maintaining close tabs on all of his loved ones.

In addition to his parents, Daniel is preceded in death by Tonya Miller (daughter) and Daryl Miller (brother).

Those left to cherish his memory include: his beloved wife of 43 years, Cheryl Purcell Miller; sons Tony Miller (Patricia), Christopher Miller (Kerisma), Adam Miller (Morgan), and Anthony Miller; a daughter, Emily Ryan (Chris); grandchildren Amanda, Isaiah, London, Ronan, Orin, Olivia, and Sophia; four great grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Thornburg (Walt); a brother, Steve Miller (Sherri); a sister-in-law, Joan Miller; and a grand-dog, Luna.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
