David Lee Bishop, 92, of Hickory passed away September 26, 2024. He was born October 28, 1931 in Hickory, North Carolina to the late Floyd Otto Bishop and Julie Day Bishop. David served in the US Air Force and was a loving family man.
David is survived by his wife of 64 years, Desola Bishop; three sons, Danny Lee Bishop and wife Karen, Randy Lee Bishop and wife Shannon, and Terry Shane Bishop and wife Elizabeth; sister, Louise Bishop; granddaughter, Majerle Bishop; four grandsons, Jacob Bishop, Andrew Bishop, Corbin Bishop and Nicholas Bishop; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Alma Broome, Ruby Bowman, Lois Hoyle and Ruth Robinson; and three brothers, Oscar Bishop, Harold Bishop, and Louis Bishop.
Funeral Service will be held 12 p.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Rd, Newton, NC 28658. Burial will be held at Bethel United Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Rd, Newton, NC 28658.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout of America in care of Zion Lutheran Church, 1911 Zion Church Road, in honor of David Bishop.
