Doris G. Cousins

HICKORY - Doris Geraldine Cousins, 89, of Fourth Street, Hickory, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at Abernethy Laurels. Born April 6, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Leslie Swatzel Sr. and Snow Carolyn Wardel Swatzel. Doris worked 45 years at Shuford Mills and was a member of First Baptist Church in Hickory. Survivors include a sister, Faye Evelyn Swatzel of Newton; a brother-in-law, D.R. Lutz of Hickory; a sister-in- law, Karen Swatzel of Lutz, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Bill Cousins, a sister, Helen S. Lutz, and brother, T.L. Swatzel Jr., preceded her in death. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel in Newton.
