Edwin West Obituary

HICKORY - Edwin Scott West, 80, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at Frye Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health. Mr. West was born Sept. 12, 1925, in Ladonia, Texas, and was the son of the late Otis A. and Edna Myra Scott West. He served in the U.S. Navy, graduated from Duke University, and retired from General Electric Company as a financial manager. In addition to his wife of 39 years, Mary Alice Stephens Hawn West, his immediate family includes three children, Michael West and wife, Louise, of Lower Burrell, Pa., Christyn Burkham and husband, Bruce, of Reno, Nev., and David West (deceased). His extended family includes Jack and Debbie Hawn and Jim and Linda Hawn Ten Kate of Conover. In addition, Mr. West had eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Burial and graveside service were held at Catawba Memorial Park on Friday, July 28, 2006. Memorials may be made to Division of Services for the Blind, Attn: Homa Marashi, 5855 Executive Center Drive, Charlotte, N.C. 28212. The West family entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home and Cremations in Conover.
