Frances Kincaid Obituary

Frances Kincaid CONOVER Frances Link Kincaid, 82, of Conover, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Gordon Hospice House, in Statesville. She was born July 17, 1930, in Catawba County, to the late Hubert Grady and Mabel Smyre Link. Frances lived in Conover, until she became ill and moved to Statesville, with her daughter. A graduate of Newton-Conover High School, she began working for the City of Conover, in 1962 and was appointed City Clerk, in 1974, a position from which she retired, in 1995. During her tenure as City Clerk, she received certification from UNC-Chapel Hill and, as a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, served three years a chairperson of the membership committee, for North Carolina. Frances was a charter member and recording secretary of the North Carolina Association of Municipal Clerks and a representative on the FAIR policy committee of the North Carolina League of Municipalities. Throughout her years as City Clerk, she also served on the Conover Planning Board. In 1982, she was honored by being appointed by her peers as the director of the North Carolina Association of Municipal Clerks and by being nominated for the first "Outstanding Business Woman of Catawba County." A charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Conover, Frances served on the Church Council and as church treasurer and actively participated in the tape ministry and in visiting shut-ins. Active in the community, Frances volunteered at Catawba Memorial Hospital and ECCCM. She was also a member of the Conover Women's Club, where she served as president. Throughout her life Frances was a loving, devoted, and dedicated wife, mother, business woman, and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 41 years, Kelly M. Kincaid; and brother, Grady "Sam" Link. Survivors include her son, Link Kincaid, of Conover; daughter, Renee K. Anders and husband, Don, of Statesville; sister, Brenda L. Harbinson and husband, J.W., of Newton; five grandchildren, Ashley Rollins Goodnight, of Salisbury, Geoff Rollins of Norfolk, Va., Jessica Kincaid, of Charleston, S.C., Sarah Kincaid, of Charleston, S.C. and Link Kincaid Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Troi Butler and Camden Stone Goodnight. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 8, at 3 p.m., at Faith Lutheran Church, in Conover. The Revs. Dennis Hacker, Lester Roof, and Chaplain Sharon Snow will officiate. The family will receive friends, following the service, at Faith Lutheran Church and, at other times, at 245 Meadow Oaks Dr., in Statesville. Pallbearers are Geoff Rollins, Matt Goodnight, Chris Harbinson, Sam Birchfield, Neil Turner, and Jeff Turner. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 439 7th St. Pl. Frances was a very nice lady and I'm glad our paths crossed. Her life history reminds me of a song, "LET THE WORKS I'VE DONE SPEAK FOR ME." Prayers to the family. Well done Frances.

frances was a beautiful person innside and out she love god so much she was a very intelligent women i miss praying with her but i will see her in heaven

Link and Ranee your mom and dad were lovely people and now that your mom has gone home a part of all of our lives has changed and we are in a new chapter but memories of them and my mom and dad will forever live on in us. . Love to you both
