September 3, 1942 - November 17, 2022

Glenn Marshall Matthews, 80, of Conover, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, at Carolina Caring in Newton.

He was born Sept. 3, 1942, in Catawba County, to the late Ralph Matthews and Margarett Little Matthews.

Glenn was a member of Oxford Baptist Church in Conover, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 1961, and retired from Sherrills Furniture.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Michael Matthews; brothers, Ralph Little Matthews and Charles Little; and sisters, Catherine Matthews Sigmon, Carolyne Villard, Mary Ellen Matthews, Doreen Lail, Norma Jean Matthews, and Helen Waldrop.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Jereme Matthews and wife, Shannon, of Newton, Eric Matthews and wife, Tonia, of Hickory; sister, Edna Ledford and husband, Larry, of Newton; and grandchildren, Hayley, Hannah, Logan, Hunter, and Holden.

A graveside service to celebrate Glenn's life will be held Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 4 p.m. at Oxford Baptist Church Cemetery in Conover. The Rev. Dr. Tim Jernigan and the Rev. Mike Daughtrey will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy. 16 in Newton, following the service.

Glenn was a nice and respectful to me in school. I am sorry to read of his passing. Heaven has received another one of Gods children. A classmate.
