Isabella Katherine Zaliagiris, 28, of Conover, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, La.
Isabella was born April 17, 1994, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, to Elizabeth Zaliagiris Reilly of Rocky Mount, and the late Thomas Edward Zaliagiris Sr. of Livonia, Mich.
Isabella loved to love. Her unbridled enthusiasm, eccentric flair, quick wit, and unapologetic joy were contagious, and made an immediate impact on everyone with whom she came into contact. She was an entertainer who was most happy when the people around her were laughing. In a world obsessed with conformity, Isabella stood confidently as her own person, and challenged norms to lift up the lives of others. Isabella squeezed the most out of every single day and will forever be an inspiration on how to live life to the fullest.
Isabella is now enjoying her time with her dad and stepbrother, Matthew, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her grandmother, Betty Mizell; mother and stepfather, Beth and Scott Reilly; brother, Tom Zaliagiris Jr., and wife, Alison Zaliagiris; half brother and half sister, Jack Zaliagiris and Jianna Zaliagiris; and her stepsister Meghan Reilly.
A service will be held at Corinth Reformed Church, 150 16th Ave. NW., in Hickory, Wednesday, June 1, at 2 p.m. In accordance with Isabella's wishes, and in true Isabella fashion, the dress code for the service is "anything but black." Immediately following the service, the family invites everyone to a celebration of life at Moretz Mills in Hickory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Corinth Reformed Church to set up a fund to honor Isabella's generosity.

FFCF is a charitable organization established to fund research projects to fight Cystic Fibrosis. FFCF is acting in the capacity of custodian of all donations made in Isabella's honor while we file the necessary paperwork to set up the foundation in Isabella's name. We are still establishing the exact nature of the charity, but the mission is to allow Isabella to continue to have an impact in the community, as she did in life. Isabella especially loved her hometown of Conover, NC and the NODA neighborhood in Charlotte, and was always a champion for the little-guy. All donations will support the underserved communities in Conover and NODA and will celebrate Isabella's generosity and enthusiasm towards those less fortunate.

I was introduced to Isabella by my realtor at Trade & Tryon Realty. She was my new realtor and was so eager to help me and was so enthusiastic about her career. She was always a call away and so easy to talk to. She was a ray of sunshine. Her personality was so radiant and full of sunny skies. Knowing Isabella for the time I did was such an honor. She will always be remembered and will always be a beacon of hope in my life and remembrance. I am sending my condolences to her family and all those grieving with this devastating loss.

We never have had the chance to meet you but we wee very blessed to know and befriend your daughter. Your description is the Iz we knew and loved. My wife Kim met Iz through her artwork career and we had such fun with her and Jay. Iz was such a bright life for us and we enjoyed her company and loved her like a daughter as we are in our 60´s. Like all we can´t believe this bright light and breath of fresh air is gone so soon. If we were not out of the country we would have been at the services. You raised a beautiful daughter. I was so saddened to read the news of Isabella's passing. Beth (and family), I'm so sorry for the loss of your daughter so soon. My husband and I lost his daughter unexpectedly at Christmas time. She was only 28. Losing a child before you is never how it should be. May you find comfort in God's strong arms.
P.S. Beth, you will remember me as Miss Matson, the 1st grade teacher and volleyball/basketball coach at Concordia. I loved Izzy's big heart and how she lived life big.

Beth, Scott and Tommy,
We are profoundly saddened by the news of Isabella. Our loss is deepened in not knowing her. Over the years, we have heard from Tommy and Thomas what a bright light she was. So, we know she leaves a huge space to fill in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
As you know, we have considered Tommy a part of our family for many years. The loss of his sister, your daughter, is almost incomprehensible to understand.

Oh so sad and such a loss for all who have been touched by her and the millions she would have touched but never got the chance.
Izabella was one in many millions in so many ways! She lit up every room she ever entered...She was funny, conversational...sensational! Iz was someone you met and never forgot...ever. Her presence and personality were gifts to us all.
