Jack Hoke Obituary
July 26, 1945 - February 7, 2026
Jack Harold Hoke, 80, of Hickory passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Carolina Caring in Newton.
Born July 26, 1945 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Albert Hugh Hoke and Annie Ruth Stoner Hoke. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Hoke Cloninger, and two siblings, Hilda Hoke Carter and Harry Hoke.
Jack was the owner of Custom Body Works in Hickory. He loved collision repair, but his favorite part of the job was interacting with the people. He enjoyed yardwork and collecting yard tractors.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Jack served in the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his son, Jeremy K. Hoke; two grandsons, Jake and Dean Hoke; and two sisters, Helen Steele and Hazel Lovelace.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, February 15, 2026 in the chapel of Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory with the Rev. Dr. Deborah Frye officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Conover.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 3 pm prior to the service.
