April 10, 1936 - July 13, 2025
Jeanette Shriver Roberts, 89, of Conover, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.
She was born April 10, 1936, in Altavista, VA, to the late Harry Shriver and Corinne Stoner Shriver. Jeanette was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Newton, NC. She had a love for the simple pleasures in life - playing bridge with friends and family, square dancing with her husband and spending peaceful days at the beach with her family. Her heart of service was evident in everything she did. She was a dedicated volunteer at the local soup kitchen, served as a Cub Scout leader and a Girls in Action (GA) leader, helping to guide and inspire young lives. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life and she faithfully served as her church's treasurer for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Earl Adkins.
Those left to cherish her memory are; husband of 72 years: James "Rudy" Roberts of the home; sons: Ricky "Rick" Roberts and wife Susan of Harrisburg, NC, Michael "Mike" Roberts and wife Mary-Louise of Boone, NC; brothers: Buck Shriver and wife Charlotte of Covington, GA, Ralph Shriver and wife Michaele of South Prince George, VA; sister: Harriette Adkins of Southerlin, VA; grandchildren: Meredith Glanton (Darryl), Justin Roberts (Erin), and Julia Roberts; great-grandchildren: Preston Glanton, Carson Glanton, and Jack Roberts; a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Jeanette's life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Newton. Rev. Dr. Paul Gilliam III and Rev. Brant Hoots will officiate. The family will hold a reception following the service in the Family Life Center.
