John LeNoir Obituary

John Edward LeNoir Sr.

January 12, 1943 - April 6, 2021

John Edward LeNoir Sr. of Hickory passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Carolina Caring, following a period of declining health.

John was born Jan. 12, 1943, in Williamson, W.Va., to the late Robert and Florence LeNoir. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ruth LeNoir Holfield; brother, Joe P. LeNoir; nephew, Bryan LeNoir; and sister-in-law, Alm LeNoir.

John graduated from William Fleming High School in Roanoke, Va., and attended Lenoir-Rhyne College. He served our country in the U.S. Army security agency. He married his sweetheart, Beverlee Bowles, July 21, 1962, at First United Methodist Church in Hickory. John worked at Century Furniture Company and later joined Pella Window and Door Company, as a sales representative for 40 years, before his retirement in 2012.

John loved life and family. He bled Tar Heel blue and Atlanta Braves red. Many a fish tale was caught and released from his pontoon boat on Lake Hickory. He was a referee for St. Stephen's Elementary basketball, which began a lengthy career of armchair and backyard management of countless sports seasons. He enjoyed yearly jaunts to Myrtle Beach and was a serious shark tooth hunter. Family and faith were always first. He served on numerous committees and was head usher at First United Methodist Church in Hickory. John was a forever friend to everyone who knew him. He was a jack of all trades and a master of quite a few! He was quick with a joke and loved to pull the leg of anyone with a sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife of over 58 years, Beverlee Bowles LeNoir; daughter, Lindee LeNoir Parsons and husband, Christopher; son, John Edward LeNoir Jr. and wife, Tonya; grandchildren, Brad Barbee, Bryan Barbee, Emily Parsons Vowells and husband, Michael, Sarah Parsons, and Mallory LeNoir; brother, Robert LeNoir Jr.; brother-in-law, L.M. Holfield; sister-in-law, Mildred LeNoir; nieces and nephews, Michelle LeNoir Pound and husband, Charles, Michael LeNoir, Barry LeNoir and wife, Angie, Joe Holfield and wife, Becky, Jim Holfield and wife, Pam, Joe P. LeNoir Jr. and wife, Carla, and David LeNoir; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

John will be inurned at First United Methodist Church. No services are currently being planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church youth or missions fund.

Dear Family, I loved and appreciated John. He was a good friend of my family and spent a bit of time at our home office. My parents are Charles and Emma Jean England (England Builders Inc) I enjoyed his kindness and remember going out to lunch with him and my parents when he was in town on business. He was a kind, gentle and funny man. My sincere sympathy in his passing.

Beverlee,
Again I am so sorry for your and the familys loss of John. I know how much love you two had for each other and what an awesome marriage you both had. That's something alot of people never get to enjoy, but you two had that. My heart hurts for you and the children.
Love and deep felt sympathy to you all.
