Lona Davis Obituary
September 21, 1926 - February 17, 2022
Lona Sigmon Davis, 95, of Maiden, passed away Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 21, 1926, in Catawba County, to the late Ottis Sigmon and Sarah Finger Sigmon. Lona was a lifelong member of May's Chapel United Methodist Church in Maiden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garfield Davis; son, Thad Davis; brothers, Marshal (Bud) Sigmon, Barnard Sigmon; and sister, Shirley Teems.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Christy Garfield Davis and wife, Janice, of Maiden; brother, John Sigmon and wife, Shirley, of Maiden; stepbrother, Jimmy Hefner of Maiden; grandchildren, Tefany Major, Keista Bass, Luke Davis and Olivia Hilton; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Conover Nursing for their love and care over the past several years. She loved her Conover Nursing family.
A service to celebrate Lona's life will be held Monday, Feb. 21, at 3 p.m., at May's Chapel United Methodist Church in Maiden. Dr. Jason Guyer will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:45 p.m., at the church, prior to the service. Those serving as pallbearers are Luke Davis, Gary Major, Charlie Bass, Chayson Bass, Ronnie Sigmon and Brad Hilton.
Memorials may be made to the May's Chapel United Methodist Church Van Fund, 1707 May's Chapel Church Rd., Maiden, NC 28650.
