Marjorie Teague Chapman, 98, of Hickory, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024, at Kingston Residence of Hickory.

Born March 6, 1926 in Alexander County, she was the daughter of the late Elijah W. Teague and Martha Preslar Teague.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Jacob Chapman; five brothers, Maynard Teague, Leon Teague, Bruce Teague, Hal Teague, Horace Teague; two sisters, Ethel T. Adams and Grace T. Rich.

Marjorie was a member of Viewmont Baptist Church in Hickory and had retired from the Naval Surface Weapons Center in Silver Springs, MD. For 23 years she and Horace spent six months of the year in Cape Coral, FL.

She was a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, had volunteered at both the hospital and hospice.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Jane T. White (Max), Kay A. Stylers (Matt), Richard Adams (Nancy), Judy T. Frye, Elaine Young (Charles), Wilson Teague (Maureen), Nelson Teague (Rebecca), Shea Teague (Carole), Audrey T. Isenhour (Dwight) and Ann C. Davis (Tommy).

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Viewmont Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Andrew Rawls officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the family gathering room at the church.
