April 25, 1931 - October 21, 2024
Mary Helen Knott Bradshaw, 93, of Hickory, passed away October 21, 2024, at Trinity Village.
Born April 25, 1931, in Catawba Co., she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Knott and Elsie Hollar Knott.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles Steven Bradshaw; and sisters, Charley Knott Sowers and Dorothy Knott. Mary Helen led a wonderfully interesting and wholesome life. Her family meant the world to her and she was the rock you could always rely on.
Growing up, her parents were both deaf and her first words were in sign language. In adulthood she managed a team of 40 ladies at Siecor producing phone cords. After her retirement from Siecor, Mary retired to Cherry Grove Beach to live in the family beach house which held precious memories of countless summers for family and friends. She enjoyed beach walks collecting seashells, faithfully watching Braves baseball, and playing lots and lots of bridge. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren who lovingly called her "GranMary". Mary Helen was a unique lady who handled adversity with amazing strength. She will be deeply missed.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, James Alan Bradshaw (Vickie) of Hickory, William Lawrence Bradshaw (Jules) of Asheville; niece and nephew, Tracey Hale of Hickory and Mark Sowers; grandsons, Asher Norton Bradshaw (Tara) of Hickory, Brett Alan Bradshaw (Kristy) of Hickory, John Bradshaw (Caitlin) of Taylorsville, Grady Bradshaw (Taylor) of Swannanoa; granddaughters, Sydney Bradshaw Holt (Charley) of Hickory, Allison Bradshaw Averette (Josh) of Creedmore, Lindsey Bradshaw Peterson (Michael) of Indianapolis; and eight wonderful great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
