Mattie Carter LINCOLNTON Mattie Elizabeth Wallace Carter, 77, of Lincolnton passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2010 at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley in Newton. Born July 31, 1933 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Ethie Knight Wallace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Chambers; 2nd husband, Paul Carter; 7 brothers; and 2 sisters. She is survived by a son; Kenneth Wallace and wife Jeanine of Granite Falls; two Daughters, Nancy Smith of Hickory and Pat Minish of Lincolnton; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Wallace of Hickory; and two Sisters, Blanche Mull and Mary Sigmon, both of Conover The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, 2010 at Burke Mortuary in Newton with Pastors Billy Ray Ramseur and Wayne White officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Burke Mortuary in Newton and at other times at the home of Kenneth Minish, 808 3rd St SE in Conover.
