Michael E. Canipe

CATAWBA - Michael Everett Canipe, 57, of Catawba, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at his residence. Born Dec. 29, 1950, in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Lawrence Everett Canipe and Enola Roberts Canipe. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Canipe worked for Duke Power for 30 years. He loved riding his motorcycle with his buddy, Clyde the Monkey. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tweep "Aree" Chandang Canipe; infant daughter, Teresa Canipe; five brothers, Jimmy, Gene, Lawrence Jr., Tommy and Randy Canipe; and two infant sisters, Jewel Canipe and Margaret Ann Canipe. He is survived by two sons, Scottie Canipe of Locust and Brian Canipe of Surfside Beach, S.C.; brother, the Rev. Larry G. Canipe of Concord; and five sisters, Mona Stanley of Cochranville, Pa., Dorothy Stafford and Peggy Pitman of Black Mountain, Claudia Sperry of Hickory and Sue Hopson of Catawba. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton, with the Rev. Larry G. Canipe officiating. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at River View Cemetery in Raccoon Branch in Mitchell County. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Wednesday, at Burke Mortuary in Newton.
